KnockKnock ("the app," "we," "us") is a prayer and emotional check-in app in a Christian faith context. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We built KnockKnock to be private by default — there are no accounts, and your check-ins stay on your device.
This is a plain-language policy. If anything is unclear, contact us (below).
The following is saved locally on your device only (using your phone's app storage), and is not uploaded to any server we control:
You can erase all of this at any time by deleting the app from your device.
When you chat, pray, or look for a verse, the app sends the following to our relay server, which forwards it to our AI provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude) to generate a reply:
We never send your name or contact information to our AI provider.
To keep our AI credentials safe and to limit usage, chat requests pass through a small relay we operate on Cloudflare Workers. This relay:
The text described above is processed by Anthropic to generate the app's responses. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your inputs and the outputs are not used to train their models, and are retained by Anthropic only for a limited period consistent with its policies (for example, for trust-and-safety purposes). See Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy for details.
The app has an optional Feedback form, and you can also email us directly. If you use it, the message you write, a star rating, and any contact email you choose to include are sent through our Cloudflare relay and delivered to us by email using the email service Resend, so we can read your feedback and reply. Adding a contact email is optional and is used only to respond to you; we don't add you to any mailing list. If you don't give us a way to reach you, we won't be able to reply.
Check-ins can reflect your emotions and your faith, which are personal and sensitive. We treat them accordingly: they are stored on your device, and the chat text sent to our AI provider is used only to respond to you. Please avoid sharing information that could identify you or others (full names, addresses, school names) in the chat — the app is designed to help without needing it.
KnockKnock is not a therapist, counselor, or medical service, and does not provide medical or psychological advice. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to a trusted adult or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the U.S.).
KnockKnock is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app has no accounts and collects no contact information, it does not gather identifying personal data from any user. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
To erase what the app stores on your device, use Delete all my data in Settings → Security & data, or delete the app. To request deletion of feedback you emailed us, contact us at the address below.
Chat requests are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our AI credentials are kept on the server side and never shipped inside the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
The app's AI processing and relay may occur on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using the app, you understand that your chat content may be processed in those locations.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this page.
